New F-35 Lot 18 contract raises unit cost of fighter aircraft to over $100 million each
According to Air and Space Forces Magazine, the Pentagon’s new $2.88 billion contract with Pratt & Whitney for 141 F135 engines has pushed the cost of an F-35A in Lot 18 to over $100 million per aircraft. When combined with Lockheed Martin’s $11.76 billion deal for 145 airframes, the fully equipped fighter now carries a price tag of $101.5 million.
