On a hot August afternoon, the world is buzzing in the wide-open atrium of the Nellis Air Force Base Exchange. Pilots fresh from the day's mission huddle at tables in the food court, retirees stop for a bite to eat and wives and husbands of service members shuffle kids into the barbershop.
