U.S. military seeking ways to knock drones from the sky

For years the United States has enjoyed almost exclusive use of armed drones, using them to strike enemies remotely and with impunity. But with adversaries — including ISIS — catching up on the technology, the Pentagon is now playing defense, trying to come up with ways to knock the pilotless aircraft out of the sky.

U.S., Japan Join Philippines in South China Sea Military Drills

The U.S. and Japan are conducting separate military drills with the Philippines near disputed islands in the South China Sea, signaling support for the country as China builds out reclaimed reefs in the waters. The annual CARAT Philippines joint exercise begins Monday off Palawan island and will run until June 26, according to U.S. Navy spokesman Arlo Abrahamson.

India Proposes To Simplify Offset Process

A policy move being considered by the Indian Ministry of Defence could help overseas defense companies meet their offset obligations and close defense contracts being held up by uncompleted offset documents, an MoD source said. An internal MoD committee has recommend that defense contracts not be delayed merely on grounds of incomplete offset documents if the company is working to fulfill the offset obligations during the execution of the defense project.
