Boeing to Showcase Comprehensive Portfolio of Products and Services at 2011 Dubai Airshow

Boeing - 11/9/2011

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 8, 2011 – The Boeing Company’s [NYSE: BA] presence at the 2011 Dubai Airshow will include the Middle East debut of the 787 Dreamliner, the world’s most advanced passenger jet, and the innovative Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor. The two aircraft will be part of a formidable lineup of defense and commercial products and services designed to meet the needs of Middle East customers. The show runs Nov. 13-17 at Dubai’s Airport Expo.

“The Middle East has demonstrated extraordinary resilience in the face of the global economic slowdown, and this is reflected in the significant growth experienced in both the commercial aviation and defense sectors,” said Jeffrey Johnson, president, Boeing Middle East. “As we look to the future, we see a high level of potential to further grow our regional capabilities, and we remain committed to working closely with our customers and partners here to help them achieve their goals.”

On the defense side, the range of Boeing platforms in service with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces that will be on display at the show includes a UAE Land Forces AH-64D Apache attack helicopter, a UAE Air Force C-17 Globemaster III strategic transport aircraft, and a UAE Special Operations Command CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift transport helicopter.

The V-22 Osprey, a tiltrotor aircraft that can take off and land like a helicopter and fly like an airplane, will make demonstration flights to showcase its capabilities, as will the AH-6i light attack/reconnaissance helicopter. A Turkish Air Force Boeing 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Peace Eagle, an F-15 Strike Eagle, and an F/A-18E Super Hornet will be on static display during the show.

On the commercial side, Boeing’s game-changing 787 Dreamliner will be showcased for the first time in the Middle East and will remain on static display during the show. Boeing has a backlog of 131 Dreamliners on order from customers in the region. Boeing customer Qatar Airways will have a Boeing 777-200LR (Longer Range) on static display and flydubai will showcase its Next-Generation 737-800 with the new Boeing Sky Interior, while a privately owned Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) also will be present.

Boeing will hold a series of media briefings and activities during the show, as listed below. The company also is co-sponsoring the Middle East Air Chiefs Conference and the Engineering Student of the Year Award – part of the Flightglobal Achievement Awards – both of which take place on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Media at the show should check the briefing schedule daily at the Boeing-sponsored Dubai Airshow Press Center for updates.
